Gen.G started strong, winning the first two games with confident play. AG.AL responded by taking Game 3 decisively and then battled fiercely to win Game 4, leveling the series at 2-2. In the decisive Game 5, Gen.G regained control, with Jeong โChovyโ Ji-hoonโs exceptional performance on Twisted Fate leading his team to victory and maintaining their perfect record. When asked about letting the series go to Game 5 after a 2-0 lead, Chovy simply stated, โWe just wanted to make a show.โ

Kim โKiinโ Ki-in was awarded the Sony MVP, recognizing his consistently high-level play and crucial performances throughout the tournament. Kiinโs outstanding contribution earned him a $10,000 cash prize.
League of Legends at EWC 2025: Tournament Highlights
The tournament began with high-stakes best-of-one matches, leading to upsets like North Americaโs Cloud9 being eliminated by Brazilian underdogs FURIA. However, FURIAโs run was short-lived, as they fell to FlyQuest.
This meant American first seed FlyQuest, alongside G2, Hanwha Life Esports, and Movistar KOI, advanced to the quarterfinals. They joined top seeds Bilibili Gaming, AG.AL, Gen.G Esports, and defending EWC champions T1 Esports in an eight-team, single-elimination playoff bracket.
The playoffs introduced the โFearlessโ draft system in the best-of-three format, notably influencing G2โs upset win over BLG. G2 mid laner Capsโ unconventional LeBlanc pick in the deciding Game 3, prompted by BLGโs bans, resulted in a stellar performance that ignited the crowd and secured their victory.
G2โs win set up a semifinal clash with Gen.G, who had defeated FlyQuest in their quarterfinal. While G2 showed potential for another upset, Gen.G secured their spot in the final with a dominant Game 3 performance, once again led by Kiinโs standout play.
On the other side of the bracket, AG.AL faced T1. The Chinese squad convincingly ended T1โs hopes of defending their title. T1 did salvage some pride by defeating G2 in the third-place match.
Gen.Gโs victory in the Esports World Cup League of Legends tournament not only earned them a significant prize but also officially qualified them for the overall Club Championship title race.
