England keen to host remainder of IPL 2025 after one-week suspension

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is open to hosting the remainder of IPL 2025 if a request is made from the BCCI. Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the BCCI decided to suspend IPL 2025 for a week. On Friday, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan had suggested that the IPL season be finished in the UK.

England offers to host IPL 2025

As per Sky Sports, England would consider hosting the remainder of IPL 2025 if a request is made by the BCCI and international authorities. However, the report also adds that moving matches to the UK might not be easy because of international and domestic seasons.

England would consider hosting Indian Premier League (IPL) matches if the England and Wales Cricket Board receives a request to help complete the tournament from the Indian and international cricket authorities,” the report stated.

IPL 2025 suspended temporarily

IPL, in a media advisory, said:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders.

The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees, who conveyed the concern and sentiments of their players, and also the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans ; while the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders.

There are 12 league stage matches left in IPL 2025, apart from the four playoff matches.
