The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the India cricket team’s squad for the England Test series soon. A senior player in the team wants to snatch Rohit Sharma’s job as India Test captain. Speaking of Rohit, India head coach Gautam Gambhir has talked about their relationship. The BCCI has also been approached by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are expected to top the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 points table. And lastly, Sunil Gavaskar wants a major role change in IPL going forward.
India Test squad for England to be announced soon
India’s squad for the England Test series will be out in the next two weeks, by May 20. The information comes from BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia. Although he didn’t provide names of players in contention, he confirmed a month before the tour starts, June 20, that the squad will be out.
SRH complain about HCA to BCCI
SRH has written to the BCCI again complaining about the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). They aren’t satisfied with how the match against Delhi Capitals couldn’t be completed. They blame the HCA for not covering the entire ground with covers and an inadequate drainage system, which prevented the game from resuming and knocked them out of IPL 2025.
Someone wants Rohit Sharma gone as captain
A senior player in Team India’s Test side wants to usurp Rohit Sharma as captain. Before the India vs England Test series, a player part of the current red-ball setup has expressed his desire to lead the team. However, the BCCI has denied them this opportunity, as they are already grooming someone else as Rohit’s successor.

RCB to top IPL 2025 points table?
As per an AI (artificial intelligence), RCB are all set to top the IPL 2025 points table. It predicts that they’ll win their remaining 3 matches and go until the playoffs, undefeated. The other three teams that’ll qualify are Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings.
No rift between Gambhir & Rohit Sharma
India head coach Gautam Gambhir has cleared the air around rumours claiming that captain Rohit Sharma doesn’t see eye to eye. Gambhir rubbished such claims, stating that people create this type of news for TRP. He added that he respects Rohit both as a cricketer and a human being.
IPL should change retention rule, says Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar thinks that BCCI should change the uncapped player retention rule in IPL. He openly stated that the rule was tinkered with to accommodate MS Dhoni. He thinks the retention price for an uncapped player like Ayush Mhatre or Vaibhav Suryavanshi should be reduced from Rs 4 crore since that amount of money for a budding cricketer might sway him into other things.
