The Delhi Capitals are making their move. After being stuck at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table, they have moved to the sixth spot. After securing a second consecutive win, the Rishabh Pant-led side has a good shot of making the IPL 2024 Playoffs.
How the Delhi Capitals can qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs
The road to the Final Four won’t be easy for the Capitals. As of now, they have played seven matches and have just three wins (six points) to their name. With 7 games left, the franchise will need at least 4 wins to have any chance to lift their maiden IPL trophy.
Last season, the four teams that qualified had 20, 17, 17, and 16 points, respectively. One might think that, given this trend, the Delhi Capitals might need at least 5 more wins to qualify for the IPL 2024 Playoffs. However, just three seasons ago (2021), the Kolkata Knight Riders made the playoffs after securing just seven wins from 14 matches.

Is luck on the Delhi Capitals’ side?
A third win could be the start of new beginnings for Rishabh Pant and Co. Up next for them are three consecutive matches at home. They’ll have the Sunrisers Hyderabad next, who are currently placed fourth. However, they’ll fancy themselves, given it’s their first match at home and their opposition knows nothing about the track yet.
Then, they’ll face the Gujarat Titans, whom they comprehensively beat in the 32nd match of the IPL 2024 season. The next might be an easy one as well, as they face the 9th-ranked (as of April 17) Mumbai Indians on April 27.
If all things go right, by April 28, we might find the Delhi Capitals with six wins from 10 matches and be very much in the reckoning to make the IPL 2024 Playoffs. This could mean that from their remaining four games, they might need just two more wins and storm into the Final Four with ease.
