The 2025 edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) commences on August 2 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) success, every state cricket body in India jumped on the T20 league bandwagon. Some tournaments, like the Maharaja Trophy or Tamil Nadu Premier League, were among the first ones to jump on the train.
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) was a little late to the party, but they are on board now. It was just last year that DPL came into existence. One would have expected that the nation’s capital would be one of the first to adapt, but that didn’t happen until last year.
The DPL launched in 2024, and names like Ishant Sharma, Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant, and Harshit Rana participated. Priyansh Arya, one of the breakthrough performers of IPL 2025, broke onto the scene during the DPL. And it’s expected that several more will join soon as well.
Delhi Premier League winners list
The East Delhi Riders were the best-performing team last year. They lost just 2 group stage matches and then went on to win. There have been a few captaincy changes, but the Riders will hope to defend their title.
