England’s debutant Tom Hartley spun the web around the Indian batters in the IND vs ENG 1st Test. The left-arm spinner completed a fine five-wicket haul in the opening Test as the home side is lose the match pretty convincingly. Thanks to his efforts with the ball, Tom Hartley also joined a unique list. The English spinner became only the fifth overseas bowler to take a five-wicket haul in his debut match in India.

English pacer John Lever was the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in India back in 1977/78. He scalped 7 for 46 and 3 for 24 on his Test debut, as England won by an innings, marking him out as the man to watch. The latest one to join the list is Tom Hartley who has scalped 5/48 in his 23 overs at the end of Day 4 in IND vs ENG 1st Test.
