CSK create unwanted record, lose 5 games at Chepauk for first time in IPL history

Chennai Super Kings suffered a fifth consecutive defeat at their home ground – the MA Chidambaram stadium. The 6-wicket loss to PBKS marked Dhoni & co’s 8th loss on IPL 2025, making them the first side to be knocked out of the playoffs race. Yuzvendra Chahal’s hat-trick followed by captain Shreyas Iyer’s 72-run knock powered PBKS to their sixth win, taking them to the 2nd spot on the points table.

Anbuden no more CSK’s fortress

The loss against PBKS meant CSK had lost five matches at home for the first time in the history of IPL. After starting the season on a winning note by beating arch-rivals MI, Dhoni and co. have simply failed to fire at home. The previous record for most losses at home for CSK came in 2008 and 2012 where they lost four games.
