Dropping catches can cost a team heavily, and it cost Gujarat Titans significant damage. The fielders missed many easy chances during the game against RR. Despite gaining an advantage with the two scalps of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler within 6 overs of the game, GT let down the momentum.
Skipper Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag ran havoc with a 130-run partnership that cost GT tremendously. Three catches were dropped in the innings. First, in the eighth over off Rashid Khan, Parag’s tried to defend, but the ball caught the outside edge and reached the wicketkeeper Wade. He failed to capitalise on the chance. Parag was just on 7 and went on to score 76.
In the 17th over by Mohit Sharma, Sanju Samson flung his bat at a lower full toss. Tewatia on the boundary ropes had an easy chance to claim the skipper’s wicket. However he tripped and RR got 4 more runs. Again Samson was on 48 but went on to score 68.
Immediately in the next over bowled by Spencer Johnson, Samson reverse scooped the ball, to land a little ahead of Noor Ahmed. Due to these mishaps on the field, RR posted a competitive total of 196.
