The BCCI on Friday announced the India A squad for the England tour, with a few surprises. Abhimanyu Easwaran as named the skipper of the side for three-match series starting on May 30. while Dhruv Jurel was his deputy. The 18-member squad consisted of India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Tanush Kotian, Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep as well.
No Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan Gets the Nod
Ishan Kishan was also included in the squad, and interestingly, Shreyas Iyer was left out. That really puts a question mark over his Test career, and if he will be included in the main India squad for the England Tests. Sarfaraz Khan, who did not get a chance to play in Australia, and just warmed the bench, has been given a chance to prove his worth in England.
A long list of bowlers has also been named — Tanush Kotian, who came in as R Ashwin’s replacement in Australia, has been given a green light for the A tour. Shardul Thakur, who has been out of the Indian side for a couple of years now, also made the cut, on the basis of some stellar performances in the domestic circuit.
Shubman Gill & Sai Sudharsan to Join After IPL 2025
This year’s Ranji Trophy’s highest wicket-taker, Harsh Dubey also got a chance in the squad. The Vidarbha spinner had ended with 69 wickets in 10 matches only, at a stunning average of 17. Another left-arm spinner Manav Suthar was included in the squad.
The likes of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are also in the squad, but will only join the team ahead of the second match on June 6, once the IPL 2025 is over on the 3rd of the month.
