Competitors at the upcoming Australian Open 2024 in January are in for a record-breaking prize pool, as organizers announced a substantial 13 per cent increase, bringing the total purse to AUD 86.5 million (USD 59.0 million). This boost in financial rewards extends throughout the tournament, with significant increases for players at various stages.
“We’ve upped prizemoney for every round at the Australian Open, with the major increases in qualifying and the early rounds of singles and doubles,” Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley said.

The winners in the men’s and women’s categories at this premier Grand Slam event will each receive a substantial AUD 3.150 million. Notably, players who exit the competition in earlier rounds, including those in the qualifying stage, will experience improved financial gains.
“It is critical to the continued success of the Australian Open that we ensure that the best players in the world are compensated appropriately, as we know this allows players to invest in their own careers and in many cases helps set them up for success throughout the year.”

Players exiting in the initial round will now receive AUD 120,000, reflecting a 13 per cent increase. The second-round participants will also benefit from this boost, with their earnings rising to AUD 180,000. Even competitors eliminated in the opening round of qualifying matches will now receive AUD 31,250.
The 2024 edition of the Australian Open has made an additional AUD 10 million available, showcasing a commitment to elevating the overall prizemoney for the tournament. Over the past decade, the prizemoney at this prestigious event, commencing on January 14 at Melbourne Park, has more than doubled, underscoring the growing financial significance of the Australian Open in the world of tennis.
