Asia Cup 2025: Hong Kong appoint discarded ex-Sri Lanka star as head coach

Hong Kong have appointed former Sri Lanka cricketer Kaushal Silva as the new head coach ahead of Asia Cup 2025. Hong Kong are a part of the eight-nation tournament that will begin from September 9 onwards, with the final set to be played on 28 September.

Hong Kong get new coach ahead of Asia Cup 2025

As per ESPNCricinfo, Cricket Hong Kong chairperson Burji Shroff, the chairperson claiemed that Kaushal could not only elevate the competitive standing but also promote the sport for team.

“Kaushal’s dedication to nurturing and developing talent resonates with our vision for the future of cricket in Hong Kong. We believe that under his guidance, we can not only elevate our competitive standing but also promote the sport within our community,” Burji Shroff, the chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong, said.

Silva has played just 39 Tests and has amassed 2099 runs to his name, averaging 28.36. He hasn’t represented Sri Lanka in ODIs or T20Is.
