After 0-3 drubbing in ODIs vs AUS, T20I series could be a real struggle for Harmanpreet & Co.

For those of you, who were celebrating India’s one-off Test win against Australia; yes it’s a big achievement, but in women’s cricket, it is the white-ball formats that are of utmost importance, and this current team, is just isn’t up to the mark. On Tuesday, India were thrashed by 190 runs by the Aussies, as the visitors took the series 0-3. But that kind of a drubbing, frankly did not even come as a surprise.

Ordinary fielding, of course, has been one of the biggest factors for such dismal performance, but it’s something that hasn’t been addressed for years now. And that is the reason, despite possessing all the talent in the world, we aren’t just good enough at the moment.

Stats Present an Ugly Picture

In 2023, speaking just about the ODIs, India lost three matches, tied one, and won only a single match, that too against Bangladesh. In the 2022, the performances weren’t no good either as India lost the series against New Zealand 1-4, just before the World Cup. There too the team failed to make it to the semis.

In short, in the last two year, Team India played 23 ODIs, and lost 11 of them, which reflects poorly on a team that had made it to the finals of the World Cup in 2017.

India vs Australia T20I Series & Declining Numbers

The Indian women’s team plays a T20I series against Australia now, and that also looks like, would be a struggle. At least the poor numbers say so. Out of the 31 matches, India has only won six. And their performance in 2023 wasn’t anything great either. Our women barely won the series against Bangladesh, and lost the recent one against England 1-2. Out of the 19 matches played, India could win only 11, with most wins coming at the Asian Games, where teams largely aren’t of great repute.
