Abhishek Sharma made a timely return to form with the Sunrisers Hyderabad on the brink of an exit from IPL 2025. Chasing a daunting 225. Sharma scored just huis second half-century of the season in the GT vs SRH clash. The 24-year-old laced the gaps expertly at the Narendra Modi Stadium, leading his side’s chase from the front.
Abhishek Sharma goes big in Ahmedabad
Abhishek Sharma struggled for runs either side of his record breaking 141 against Punjab Kings. The left-hander looked a shadow of himself throughout IPL 2025. But now with Sunrisers Hyderabad needing to win every game to be in the hunt for the playoffs, the left-hander swashbuckler has turned corner on his run scoring.
Chasing a mammoth 224, Abhishek Sharma led SRH’s charge at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The 24-year-old smashed Mohammed Siraj for a six in the very first over to make his intentions clear. While both Travis Head and Ishan Kishan appeared circumspect, Sharma was at his fluent best, striking boundaries and regular ease.
He kept the scoreboard ticking, even as the rate went well above 12. He eventually reached his half-century off just 28 balls, with a stunning maximum off Gerald Coetzee. Even after Kishan’s fall, Abhishek took Rashid Khan for a six and a boundary to keep the pedal on the accelerator.
A break from the action seems to have helped Abhishek gather his form back. The Sunrisers took a mid-season trip to Maldives, and it seems to have rejuvenated their opener, who has come out all guns blazing. He is incidentally SRH’s top score this season, striking at 183.33 at an average of 34.22.
