Mukesh & Akash Deep audition for second pacer’s spot, bowl to IND top-order at nets: Report

With just two days left for the start of the fourth IND vs ENG Test in Ranchi, once again, the million-dollar question is, who will replace Jasprit Bumrah, with the latter being rested for the match.

The team management has brought in Mukesh Kumar once again, who picked up 10 wickets in the last Ranji Trophy match, and also rewarded Akash Deep with a maiden Test call-up, after his impressive performances.

Okay, so at the Indian nets there is a clear audition for the role of the 2nd seamer in the XI. Mukesh & Akashdeep, both have been given new balls & they are bowling to India’s top 3.

My observation: Akashdeep looks more impressive with his extra pace & bounce.#INDvENG

On Wednesday, as per various reports, at the Team India net session, it seemed like the duo of Mukesh and Akash Deep auditioned for the second fast-bowler’s role, with the obvious first choice being Mohammed Siraj. The duo were given new balls at the practice, and bowled against the top-order, including the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rohit Sharma.

India Might Field Four Spinners?

One cannot rule out the possibility of Team India fielding four spinners — Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel. The inclusion of Axar will only increase India’s batting prowess.
