India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s wife is extremely proud of her husband for his phenomenal 500-wicket milestone. The spinner’s happy moments after reaching the landmark lasted for a short while. He had to leave the team after the Day 2 owing to a family emergency.
Ashwin’s wife pens emotional note
Taking to Instagram, Ashwin’s wife Prithi put up an appreciation post, where she also revealed the harrowing 48-hour ordeal. She reveals that despite chasing the 500th wicket at Hyderabad and Vizag, it did not happen to be so. She reveals that a lot happened between 500 and 501.
“Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test squad, effective immediately due to a family medical emergency. In these challenging times, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team fully supports Ashwin,” BCCI had said in a statement.
Ashwin became only the second Indian spinner and fifth spinner in the world to take 500 wickets in Tests. The off-spinner has been playing in Tests for more than a decade and has played in 98 Tests so far.
