Ranji Trophy veteran and India cap Faiz Fazal has announced his retirement from competitive cricket, the player announced in a statement on Sunday. The 38-year-old, who played one ODI for India in 2016, against Zimbabwe, led Vidarbha to their maiden Ranji title in 2018.
In a statement on Sunday, Faiz was quoted as saying by Sportstar, “Representing the Vidarbha cricket team has been a tremendous honour and privilege, and I am immensely grateful for the experiences and memories that I have accumulated over the years.”
“However, as I reflect on my career and personal aspirations, I feel compelled to explore new opportunities and avenues beyond professional cricket. This decision has not been easy, but I am confident that it is the right step for my personal and professional growth.”

Faiz made his first-class debut way back in 2003, and impressed instantly with a knock of 151 against Jammu & Kashmir. Since then he has scored 9183 runs in FC, 3641 runs in List A, and 1273 runs in T20s. In his last match, against Haryana, he returned with scores of 1 and 0.
