Manoj Tiwari has retired from cricket. The recently cricketer-turned-politician had announced that he’d leave the sport following the Bihar vs Bengal match in the Ranji Trophy 2024 at his home ground at Eden Gardens.
Tiwari is currently leading Bengal, and following his 70-ball 30 in the first inning, the domestic legend received a guard of honour from his teammates.
A prolific run-scorer in first-class cricket, Manoj Tiwari has ended his career as the third-highest run-getter in Indian domestic first-class cricket. With 10165 runs to his name, the right-handed batter is only behind Cheteshwar Pujara and Wasim Jaffer and ahead of one of India’s greatest Sachin Tendulkar.
The 38-year-old had represented India in shorter formats (ODIs and T20Is), playing 15 matches over 7 years. However, the batter was not consistent on the international stage and went in and out of the side.
