After ordinary performances throughout the white-ball leg, the talented West Indies team finally came up with a performance to remember, as they beat hosts Australia by 37 runs in the third and final T20I in Perth on Tuesday. Despite losing the series 1-2, the Rovman Powell-led side gave a good account of themselves, as they first slammed 220/6 in the first innings, and then restricted the Aussies at 183/5.
The star of the show turned out to be Jamaican Andre Russell, who smashed 71 from only 29 balls, and struck at a rate of 245. His innings included four fours and seven sixes. That wasn’t the only highlight of the innings, but he also stitched a partnership of 139 with Sherfane Rutherford (67).
In the bowling department, Roston Chase curtailed the scoring rate, as he returned with figures of 2/19 in his four overs. Shepherd also contributed with 2/31, that ended Australia’s hopes of any fight. This is in stark contrast with the opposition bowlers, who leaked way too many runs.
