IND vs ENG Tickets: Fans lash out at BCCI after being asked to collect tickets 48 hours in advance

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is once again facing criticism from Indian fans due to ticketing chaos ahead of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test in Rajkot, scheduled to begin on February 15.

On Monday, an Indian cricket fan, who booked a ticket for the Rajkot Test, expressed his frustration over the requirement to collect physical tickets 48 hours in advance.

A Twitter user named, Aditya Joshipura, shared a screenshot of email he received from Paytm Insider which stated that there will be no pick ups for physical tickets a day before or on match days.

“Please note that there would be NO PICKUPS on 14th February and on Match days. Physical Tickets are mandatory to allow entry inside the stadium premises, please collect your physical tickets from the Box office before match days as per your convenience”, the email stated.

“Never change idiots. Never change @BCCI. I blame fans like myself for putting up with this. Absolute torture for fans from outside the city to manage this. It’s like being in an abusive relationship where you hope every day it’ll be better and you won’t get beaten. But alas”, the Twitter user posted.

While many fans called out the Indian cricket authority for not being considerate of fans outside match city, few defended the move, stating that it is the norm to minimise last-minute rush on match day.

Check out some reactions:

Last year I travelled to watch all the 4 tests against Australia and it was an absolute nightmare to collect the tickets. Infact in indore I had to miss first day’s action as I never received the tickets by post and they would not issue a new one at the box office. #BCCI

In India paying customers in events business are considered trash .

I never understood people watching matches in India, unless it’s @ipl which has good event management.

FWIW, these emails seem to be common before the Tests to dissuade everyone from bunching up at the ticket counters last – minute, but ticket collection usually stays open on match days too (experienced the same during IPL Final and Motera Test ’21)

Don’t worry, you will get physical tickets on match day as well.
