The BCCI on Saturday confirmed that India’s ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from hospital in Sydney after sustaining a serious abdominal injury during the third ODI against Australia. The 30-year-old had suffered a blunt injury to his abdomen while fielding, which resulted in a laceration to his spleen and internal bleeding.
According to the latest BCCI medical update, the bleeding was immediately arrested following a minor procedure, and Iyer has responded well to treatment. The board stated that he is now “stable and recovering well” and will remain in Sydney for a few more days for follow-up consultations before being cleared to travel back to India.
