Duck, Duck, go: Another 0 for Virat Kohli against Australia as Adelaide dream ends swiftly

India cricket team star Virat Kohli’s stay in the middle in the IND vs AUS 2nd ODI lasted for just 4 deliveries as he was dismissed for yet another duck in the series. After falling for zero off 8 deliveries in the 1st ODI in Perth, there was enormous pressure on the former Indian captain to go all guns blazing in Adelaide, especially because of his record at the venue. However, it took Australia four lesser deliveries this time to send Kohli packing.

Xavier Bartlett was the man who got rid of Kohli in the penultimate delivery of the 7th over. He was trapped for a plumb LBW which later the ball-tracking went on to show the delivery going on to crash into the middle stump. While Kohli did have a discussion with Rohit Sharma, deliberating whether he should take a referral, he decided against it, rightfully so, and simply walked off. It is the first time in his ODI career that Kohli has been dismissed for a duck in successive innings

In the 1st ODI, Kohli created an unwanted record as he registered his first duck against Australia. It took just 8 deliveries and an outside the off stump ball to trap Virat as Australia exploited his apparent weakness in that area. While there was huge expectations that King Kohli would blaze back to form in Adelaide, it wasn’t the case.

Kohli had always dominated in Adelaide, scoring 975 runs at an insane average of 65.00, with 5 hundreds and four fifties (across formats). In fact, this figure means that Kohli is the highest non-Australian run-getter at the Adelaide Oval.
