Chamari Athapaththu only Sri Lankan in Top 10 of ICC Women’s ODI batting ranking

Chamari Athapaththu will carry all of the expectations for Sri Lanka in the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. The all-rounder will be among the top ten batters at the event, as per the latest ICC Women’s ODI batting ranking. Despite playing no 50-over matches since May 11, Chamari continues to be among the best.

Currently plying her trade in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 for the Barbados Royals. After three matches there, Chamari’s the seventh-highest scorer and the second-highest wicket-taker in the league. This remains consistent when she plays ODI for Sri Lanka as well.

Besides being Sri Lanka’s best batter, Chamari is also ranked as the second-best Sri Lankan bowler in ODIs. Inoka Ranaweera is ahead of her in the ICC Women’s ODI bowling ranking, but only by a small margin (28 to 34).

To further prepare for the Women’s ODI World Cup, Chamari will play two warm-up matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan. Following these matches, she will take on India in the tournament opener in Guwahati on September 30.
