Australia wreak havoc on SA

Opting to bat first, Head and Marsh went berserk as they stitched together a 250-run partnership before South Africa finally found a breakthrough. Head smashed 142 off 103 deliveries, including 17 fours and 5 sixes while Marsh slammed 100 off 106 deliveries. It was then Cameron Green’s turn to bring the fireworks.

Green raced to 118 off just 55 deliveries, including 5 fours and 8 sixes. Meanwhile, Alex Carey brought up his half-century off 37 deliveries. Together, the duo – who stayed unbeaten at the end of 50 overs – stitched together a 164-run partnership. The 431/2 total is their second highest in ODIs and the highest on Australian soil.

South Africa would hope to emulate their famous successful run-chase from 2006 when they chased down the 435-run target set by Australia.
