The inaugural EWC VALORANT tournament in Riyadh saw its first four teams eliminated swiftly, with their runs lasting barely 24 hours. Following day one losses, eight teams faced elimination matchups on day two, and half of them are now headed home. Check out the detailed information about EWC 2025 VALORANT Day 2 below.
EWC 2025 VALORANT Day 2: Summary
G2’s EWC Hopes Dashed by Illness and Bilibili Gaming
G2, the back-to-back VCT Americas champions, faced an uphill battle from the start due to the illness-induced absence of Nathan “leaf” Orf, with assistant coach Peter “shhhack” Belej stepping in. Their opening best-of-one loss to Karmine Corp was one-sided, hinting at a short tournament run. In their do-or-die series against Bilibili Gaming, G2 initially struggled, losing the first map 13-3. While they rebounded with a 13-4 win on Pearl, shhhack performing admirably, BLG ultimately secured a 13-11 victory on the third map, ending G2’s EWC journey.

XLG’s Winless Streak Continues
VCT China Stage 1 champions XLG continued their streak of winless international tournaments. After being swept at Masters Toronto, they nearly repeated that performance at the EWC. Their best-of-one loss to DRX set up an elimination rematch against Sentinels. Though XLG showed more resilience this time, winning on SEN’s Sunset and securing at least nine rounds in all three maps, they ultimately fell 2-1, marking their exit without a series win at a global event.
100 Thieves Undone by Tough Draw and ZmjjKK’s Brilliance
100 Thieves, from VCT Americas, found themselves in the EWC’s “Group of Death.” Despite a strong fight in their opening 13-11 loss to EMEA champions Fnatic, they needed a win against EDward Gaming to stay. They started well with a 13-11 map one victory, but EDG’s star Duelist Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang delivered an exceptional performance across all three maps, tallying 73 kills and a 309 ACS in the best-of-three, almost single-handedly eliminating 100 Thieves.
Team Heretics Narrowly Escapes, Eliminates TEC
Team Heretics, struggling since their VCT EMEA Stage 1 grand final loss, continued their slump with a 13-4 defeat to NRG in their EWC opener. This put them against Titan Esports Club (TEC), considered one of the weaker teams. Despite a perceived weakness, TEC pushed Heretics to the brink. Heretics, after leading 9-3, almost let TEC complete a comeback. However, Enes “RieNs” Ecirli’s inspired play, particularly in the critical 14-12 first map victory and a dominant 13-6 win on Sunset, kept Heretics in the tournament and sent Titan Esports Club home.
