The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming India U19 tour of England. Thomas Rew, younger brother of James Rew (current England A captain), has been named skipper of the England U19 team. Isaac Mohammed is the only uncapped player named in the team. Rocky Flintoff, son of England Lions head coach Andrew Flintoff, also continues to be part of the team.
England U19 and India U19 are set to play 5 one-day matches and 2 four-day matches from June 27 to July 23. This means that the Ayush Mhatre-led team will be in England at the same time, and the senior Indian team and the women’s team will be present in the nation as well.
“We’ve selected an exciting squad for the ODI series. We have players who have a variety of white-ball skills and predominantly available for the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the winter. India Under-19s will provide a great challenge this summer and it’s a great opportunity for the boys to perform as a team and individually,” said England’s U19 head coach Mike Yardy.
