Ollie Pope has moved up twenty spots in the updated ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings to enter the Top 15. The English vice-captain scored 197 runs (1 and 196) in the recently concluded IND vs ENG 1st Test to join Joe Root and Harry Brook in the top fifteen.
His imperious 196 on the tricky Hyderabad pitch against the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah had earned him a lot of praise from both sides.
After his first-inning failure, critics have advised that Ollie Pope should be dropped. But the 26-year-old roared back, taking England down from a 190-run trail to set a target of 231. His second-inning heroics proved to be the difference between the sides, and he was rightly awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ for his performance.
