DRS, May 21: New LSG coach, KL Rahul injured, IPL Final venue confirmed & MS Dhoni told to retire

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the venues for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Playoffs. The Mumbai Indians (MI) have named 3 temporary replacements. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will remove their head coach soon. KL Rahul might have injured himself. Rishabh Pant’s woes can be fixed in 5 minutes, as per an Indian coach. And MS Dhoni has been told to rest/retire.

LSG to change head coach

LSG are set to axe their head coach, Justin Langer, after the IPL 2025 season. Under the Australian LSG has failed to make the IPL playoffs in the last two years. But that’s why he’s being removed. Apparently, Langer doesn’t see eye to eye with mentor Zaheer Khan, and his relationship with the main players of the team isn’t that great either.

KL Rahul out of MI vs DC match?

KL Rahul has suffered a knee injury on the eve of the knockout MI vs DC match. The wicketkeeper was struck in the nets by Mukesh Kumar. Rahul has been Delhi’s best batter with 493 runs in 11 innings and scored a hundred in the last. We still don’t know if he’ll be available for selection in Mumbai, but Axar Patel would surely hope so.

IPL Playoffs venues confirmed, RCB vs SRH shifted

The BCCI has announced the venue of the IPL Playoffs. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be played in Mullanpur, while Qualifier 2 and the Final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, keeping the weather in mind. The RCB vs SRH match has also been shifted from Bengaluru to Lucknow.

MS Dhoni told to retire

Former India fast bowler Joginder Sharma feels that it’s time for MS Dhoni to retire from the IPL. Joginder played under Dhoni in the 2007 T20 World Cup and thinks that the wicketkeeper batter can bat up the order for the Chennai Super Kings. But at the same time, Joginder also feels that it’s time for Dhoni to rest.

MI name replacements for playoffs

MI has announced three temporary overseas replacements. Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch will leave before the IPL 2025 playoffs due to national commitments. Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson, and Charith Asalanka will take their places in the squad. This will happen only if MI qualifies for the playoffs.

Yograj Singh, father and first coach of Yuvraj Singh, has claimed that whatever problems Rishabh Pant has been having in the IPL 2025 season can be fixed in 5 minutes.
