Shreyas Iyer no certainty for IND A and England series, future depends on Virat Kohli’s status

While the focus is on resumption of IPL 2025, it seems that the squad for the India A tour to England has already been picked, as per a report in Cricbuzz. It seems that the selectors discussed this team on May 6, and the India A squad was finalised there. While the squad is to be announced on May 13, opener Abhimanyu Easwaran could be named as the skipper.

No Shreyas Iyer for England?

The series starts on May 30, and will end with one intra-squad match with the Indian senior team on June 16. Meanwhile, it is important to note, that the selectors were advised to pick players who have performed beyond the IPL. Also, the ones in contention are Tanush Kotian, Baba Indrajith, Akash Deep and Karun Nair.

Decision on May 13

Some of the other players are — Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Reddy.. Having said that, there is no clarity if Ishan Kishan will be considered. Another top-scorer, Ricky Bhui is slated to be out of contention for the India A squad. Surprisingly, Shreyas Iyer is not on the radar for India A or India squads and his chances totally depend on Virat Kohli’s future.

Another surprise for India A and India could be Mukesh Kumar, who can swing the ball both ways. Yash Dayal will be in consideration for one of the squads, and is being considered as a better option than Khaleel Ahmed. Lastly, there is no clarity on Sarfaraz Khan.
