PSL 2025 disrupted after Operation Sindoor, matches could be shifted to Dubai

The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) season could move to Dubai or Doha after India and Pakistan continue to clash at the border. The Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, and border areas were affected by strikes. The situation in Rawalpindi is unclear, and a May 8 game at the city was postponed as a result.

Operation Sindoor disrupts PSL 2025, will PCB shift tournament to Dubai?

As per Cricbuzz, the Pakistan Cricket Board are considering relocating the remainder of the PSL 2025 to Dubai or Doha. In the wake of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan airspace is closed. Rawalpindi, which is just 100 km away from the Wagah Border, witnessed drone strikes just hours before the PSL 2025 match. As a result, the Karachi Kings vs Peshawar Zalmi game, scheduled to be played on Thursday, was postponed.

While relocating the entire tournament would be ideal from a security standpoint, it might not suit PCB’s cost. Karachi, which hosted games earlier in the tournament, is an option. It is important to note that PCB recently hosted the Champions Trophy in a hybrid format. India, who won the tournament, played their games in Dubai. The report states that a final decision on the PSL schedule will be taken in the coming days. Indian broadcasters Sony and Fancode have already stopped their broadcast of the tournament in India in response to the attack in Pahalgam.

The PSL has 6 more games left this season, with 2 league stage clashes and the playoffs. The final was set to be played in Lahore on May 18. Lahore and Rawalpindi are the venues where several Pakistani Air Defence Radars and systems were targeted by the Indian army and subsequently neutralised.

Overseas players to skip PSL?

The scenes at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium are likely to send jitters to overseas players currently participating in the PSL. Cricket boards are in constant touch with their players, with a large English contingent currently in Pakistan. The ECB and Professional Cricket Association (PCA) are in touch with all 15 players. Some players want to remain, while others are believed to want to leave. However, with Pakistan’s airspace closed down due to India’s drone strikes, there is currently no way out for the overseas stars.
