Nearly two months after Harry Brook pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Delhi Capitals (DC) have finally named his replacement. Brook had joined the Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore but had pulled out of the tournament. And a month later, he has named England’s white-ball captain, which explains the reason for him remaining back home.
However, much to the shock of everyone, the Capitals didn’t announce a replacement. And now with just 3 group stage matches left, they have signed Sediqullah Atal for Rs 1.25 crore.
Who is Sediqullah Atal?
Atal is a left-handed batter from Afghanistan. Having made his international debut in 2023, Atal has represented Afghanistan across all formats in international cricket. Some may remember him from the Champions Trophy 2025, where he played an 85-run knock against Australia.
The 23-year-old doesn’t have incredible T20 numbers, but he’s finding his best in the format. His maiden franchise stint came earlier in the year when he played for MI Cape Town in the SA20 2025.
Many may not remember, but Atal made a name for himself in 2023. Playing in the Kabul Premier League, Atal hit 7 sixes in an over. Yes, you read that right. He scored 48 runs in the over to Amir Zazai, which included 5 wides as well. He had played just 1 T20I for Afghanistan by then, and this knock skyrocketed him.
