Australia’s Will Pucovski to embark on County mission as he eyes Test return

Australia batsman Will Pucovski will play County cricket in UK as he attempts to make his way back to the national Test side. The batter’s career has so far been marred with injuries and mental health upheaval. Pucovski will now play for Leicestershire, along with Peter Handscomb.

Pucovski has played club cricket in England before but will get his first stint in the top flight, joining Leicestershire on a short-term deal that will begin in April. He will play the opening four games of the season, concluding with a match at Lord’s.

The batter recently suffered his 12th concussion after getting hit on his head during a game for Victoria second XI.

Earmarked as a special talent right from a young age, Pucovski was all set to partner David Warner at the top in the Ashes series Down Under. A freak head injury meant Pucovski had to take his 11th concussion test.

The 24-year-old has played just one first-class game post his Test debut due to a series of concussions, meaning that an opportunity with the Australian squad has also gone begging multiple times.
