Forget their wait to win an IPL trophy. Forget their search for a first home win of IPL 2025. For RCB, luck has not been in their favour, with the franchise losing their 12th straight toss at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The probability of losing 12 tosses in a row is 0.024%, with Smriti Mandhana and Rajat Patidar failing to win a single toss in 2025.
RCB’s barren run at coin tosses
Be it Rajat Patidar, Smriti Mandhana or even former captain Faf du Plessis, RCB captains have defied probability with their ability to get the call right at the toss at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Du Plessis lost the toss in his last two games as RCB captain at home. Patidar, who succeeded the Proteas ace, has yet to win a toss at home this year, with the RCB vs RR clash being his 4th straight toss loss.
The plague has spread to the RCB women’s team as well. Smriti Mandhana lost the last 6 tosses at home, a run stretching back to WPL 2024. Such has been their luck at tosses, the official RCB handle on social media suggested that it needed to be studied in Harvard.
A barren run at winning the toss is not unheard of, with Rohit Sharma losing the last 15 ODI tosses. However, fortunately for the Indian skipper, that has not affected the results as such, with the Men in Blue winning the Champions Trophy earlier this year.
