It looks like India’s Rohit Sharma has finally turned up at the Indian Premier League (IPL). The former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain has finally hit his maiden IPL 2025 fifty in a high-octane ‘El Clasico’ of the IPL, against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Prior to this game, Rohit’s highest score in the tournament was just 26, looking awful with the bat. But that wasn’t the case on Sunday night.
Rohit Sharma show at Wankhede Stadium
Unlike his run in the IPL 2025, Rohit didn’t throw his wicket after getting into the groove. CSK put a target of 177 runs at the Wankhede Stadium and the ‘Mumbai cha Raja’ gave MI a perfect start. He and Ryan Rickelton put up a splendid 64-run stand for the opening wicket, with Hitman taking charge.
In his usual way, Rohit pounced on everything that was just fraction short as well. Khaleel Ahmed, who previously got Rohit out after every 9.3 run, was negotiated as well. In fact, Rohit kicked off his innings by smacking the left-arm pacer for 14 runs in an over. Jamie Overton tried slower balls outside off-stump, ended up bowling nine balls in an over only to get smashed for 18 runs.
