Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has suggested a major shuffle in Team India batting order for the IND vs ENG 2nd Test, starting on February 2 in Visakhapatnam.
Despite going through a rough patch, Shubman Gill has recieved backing from Jaffer, who has suggested that the Indian star should be pushed to open alongside Yashasvi Jasiwal.
Jaffer reasoned that promoting Shubman back up the order could do a world of good for the youngster. The former Indian opener also opined that moving at number 3 would not make much difference for skipper Rohit Sharma as he is a good player of spin.
“Gill and Jaiswal should open and Rohit should bat at no.3 in 2nd test in my opinion. Waiting to bat for his turn isn’t helping Shubman, it’s better he opens the inn. Rohit plays spin really well, so batting at no.3 should not worry him too much”, Wasim Jaffer posted on X.
Notably, Team India suffered a shocking defeat in Hyderabad on Sunday to go behind 0-1 in 5-match Test series. Gill registered 23 & 0 in both innings.
