Yashasvi Jaiswal to play for Goa from next domestic season, leaves Mumbai due to “personal reasons”

In an explosive development, India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will now play for Goa in the domestic circuit, instead of Mumbai, as per a report in The Times of India. It seems that the southpaw batter wrote an e-mail to the MCA, seeking an NOC, to change his state for the next season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Leaves Mumbai for Goa

“He has sought a NOC from us and has cited that the reason for his move to Goa as personal,” a source in the MCA confirmed. The move comes after Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad had already switched their states in the last couple of years. It is important to note that Yashasvi Jaiswal has been India’s most consistent batter in the Tests, ever since his debut.

In 19 Tests, he has scored 1798 runs at an average of 52.88, and has smashed four tons and 10 fifties. To go with that, in his FC career for Mumbai, he has scored 3712 runs in 36 matches, at an average of 60. Meanwhile, for now he is playing with the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025.

“Personal Reasons” Behind Move

For India, in their last Test series in Australia, he had finished as the highest run-getter for the team, where in 5 matches, he notched 391 runs at an average of 43.44. That included a ton and also two fifties. Amidst this news, the striking question is, what was the need for such a move?

Players in the past have done it, and it is common for players who don’t find a regular spot in the Mumbai side. But that was not really the case with Yashasvi Jaiswal. He had been one of their best batters in the last few years.
