The highly anticipated IPL 2025 season is set to kick off on March 22, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosting Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens. However, another KKR home game—against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 6—now faces uncertainty due to security concerns linked to the festival of Ram Navami.
Security Concerns Put KKR vs LSG in Jeopardy
April 6 marks Ram Navami, a major Hindu festival that involves large-scale processions across Kolkata. According to reports, the Kolkata Police has expressed concerns over providing adequate security for both the match and the religious events happening simultaneously.
This is not the first time IPL has faced such a challenge. In 2024, KKR’s match against Rajasthan Royals had to be rescheduled due to similar concerns.

BCCI and CAB Exploring Solutions
According to Sportstak, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has already approached West Bengal Sports Minister Aroop Biswas for assistance. He has assured that discussions will take place with the police to explore possible solutions.
A potential venue change or date swap could be on the table, but neither option is straightforward. Given KKR’s strong home crowd and LSG’s Kolkata connections—with team owner Sanjiv Goenka hailing from the city—altering the fixture would be a logistical challenge.
