Rohit Sharma sees flashbacks of T20 World Cup 2021 as Shaheen Afridi castles Indian skipper with a yorker

The hounds of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 came to haunt Rohit Sharma once again. Shaheen Afridi one-upped the Indian captain once again as he rattled him with an absolute peach at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The high-octane India vs Pakistan match saw Rohit Sharma start the innings in his usual fashion. He hit some delightful shots to kickstart the Indian run-chase of 242. But Shaheen cut short the Indian captain’s innings.

T20 World Cup flashbacks for Rohit?

Shaheen Afridi delivered a devastating inswinging yorker to dismiss Rohit. The Pakistani pace ace’s perfect delivery was full, fast, and swung in sharply, beating Rohit all ends up. Rohit’s innings ended at 20 off 15 deliveries that saw him hit 3 fours and a six. Afridi’s ball, clocked at around 145 km/h, will surely go down as one of the best balls in the tournament.

Incredibly, Rohit had flashbacks of his dismissal at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. While, in 2021, Rohit was caught leg before wicket, it was a similar inswinging menacing yorker. For those unaware, Afridi was almost unplayable in that game that also happened in Dubai. The left-arm quick took the wickets of Rohit, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli, with Pakistan winning that encounter by 10 wickets.

Contrastingly, Shubman Gill took care of Shaheen in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy clash as he drove him with immaculate finesse. Gill gave India a fantastic start, hammering blows to Pakistan left, right and center.
