Lakshya Sen, Priyanshu Rajawat crash out of Indonesia Masters after straight-game defeats

India’s shuttlers, Lakshya Sen and Priyanshu Rajawat, faced disappointing exits from the men’s singles competition at the Indonesia Masters, a BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament. In their pre-quarterfinal matches, both players succumbed to straight-game defeats.

Lakshya Sen, who took on eighth-seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark, displayed a resilient fight but ultimately fell short, losing 19-21 18-21. Despite the defeat, Sen had started the tournament on a positive note, defeating Weng Hongyang of China in the opening round with scores of 24-22 21-15.

Priyanshu Rajawat faced Brian Yang of Canada in his pre-quarterfinal match after a successful conquest over Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in the first round with scores of 21-18 21-19. Despite a commendable performance in the opening game against the Canadian opponent, Rajawat couldn’t maintain momentum, losing 18-21 14-21 and exiting the competition.

Kiran George now stands as the sole Indian representative in the tournament. He faces Lu Guangzu of China in the men’s singles event. George, coming off a victory over Toma Junior Popov of France in the opening round with scores of 18-21 21-16 21-19, aims to advance further in the competition.
