SA20 next only to IPL?
Like IPL commentary in regional languages, SA20 2024 official broadcaster SuperSport has three languages for commentary — English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa in South Africa. In India, Sports18 and JioCinema have taken the tournament further to multiple Indian regional languages including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Cricket South Africa’s latest T20 experiment SA20 has become a success with fans filling the stadiums. Even tickets have been sold out for most matches. With match timings suitable for Indian audiences and franchise owners all Indians, fans have formed a connection with SA20.
And with the success, SA20 commissioner Graeme Smith is also open to the idea of organising part of SA20 in India.
“I think it’s a great idea; I’m not against it. The IPL happened in South Africa, and we can do the same, as both cricketing nations share a great relationship. Although the challenges of playing in India will be different, it will still be great. Maybe Graeme Smith can work on it,” he added.
