Aryna Sabalenka looks to be on a mission at the Australian Open 2024. The defending champion seemed to be in a hurry in her third-round match against Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko at the Rod Laver Arena on January 19. The world number two double-bagelled her opponent in just 53 minutes as he moved to the round of 16 with ease.
Sabalenka has been on a tear so far at the Australian Open. In her first three rounds, the defending champ has lost just six games in three matches. In her three opening matches, she has spent less than three hours on the court (173 minutes).

When asked about her ridiculous run so far after her win against Tsurenko, Aryna Sabalenka joked that she’s trying to emulate world number one Iga Swiatek.
“Well, last year Iga won so many sets, 6-0. This is one of the goals. Try to get closer to her.”
Up next for Sabalenka is American Amanda Anisimova. The 22-year-old returned to the tour a couple of weeks ago after eight long months and has already defeated the number 13 seed, Liudmila Samsonova, in her opening match at the Australian Open 2024.
