Indian defenders had a very good first half in the game, constantly nullifying the threat of Australia. India defenders intercepted and cleared innumerable Australian chances as Chhetri’s team went into the dugout at half time with the score 0-0.

However, Australia scored right after the break to break the Indian hearts. Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu pushed an Australian cross into the path of Irvine who made no mistake in slotting it past two Indian defenders in the goal line. Substitute Bos added a second in the 72nd minute to put the game beyond India’s reach.

Indian football fans took to social media to express their disappointment after the match. Some fans were left frustrated at India’s defensive approach while others rued the missed chances. Here’s how the Indian fans reacted.

Disappointing second half for the blue tigers. The problem with the style of play is it works only till you concede. And clearly no strategy to attack. #AFCAsianCup2023 #IndianFootball #INDvAUS

#IndianFootball Indians have been no match to Aussies. Don’t be fooled by the score line. Not a single corner in the game. We have hardly got into the “D ” of Australia
