It seems like heartbreak is all that’s meant to be for Rohan Bopanna and Matt Ebden. The third seeds at the Adelaide International suffered a deja vu loss to Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in a tight three-setter to start their year. The match was a rematch of their 2023 US Open Final, which they lost in a tight three-set match as well.
While it may seem as though the star duo reached the final, one has to also take into account the massive toll such a loss takes on one’s confidence. After losing in their last three finals (the US Open, Shanghai, and Paris), Rohan Bopanna and Matt Ebden needed a win to boost their deflated confidence.
Now, the duo will be going into the Australian Open 2024 after a loss in their last match.

Rohan Bopanna’s poor record at the Australian Open
Rohan Bopanna is having a late-career surge. At 43, he became the oldest player to win a Masters 1000 title last year and made the semifinals at Wimbledon and the final at the US Open last year.
However, the tall right-hander has a poor record at the Australian Open. Bopanna has a 16-16 win/loss record at AO and has never made it past the third round of his career. With Aussie Matt Ebden by his side and enjoying the best phase of his tennis career, Bopanna will look to make a first-ever deep run in Australia.
