Punjab Kings (PBKS) first secured Ricky Ponting as their head coach, who then selected James Hopes as assistant coach for the IPL 2025 season. Hopes, who was part of the PBKS squad in the inaugural 2008 IPL season, now returns to the team in a coaching role.
Ponting has also opted to retain Brad Haddin, who has served as PBKS’s assistant coach for the past three years. Initially brought in by Trevor Bayliss, Haddin has previously worked alongside Ponting at SunRisers Hyderabad and will continue in his role as batting and wicketkeeping coach.
Additionally, Ponting has chosen to keep Sunil Joshi, a former Indian spinner and chief selector, as the team’s spin bowling coach, a role he has held for several seasons.
