Emma Raducanu’s comeback to tennis after 8 months has been unsuccessful. Having last played in April 2023, the US Open champion was playing her second match against former World No. 3 Elina Svitolina. Having won against Elena-Gabriela Ruse in three tight sets in the last round, the Brit faced defeat in yet another three-setter.
With this loss, Emma Raducanu and her chances at the Australian Open 2024 have taken a hit. Despite not going past the second round at a slam since her title run at the US Open in 2021, experts and fans expected much from the Brit.

Emma Raducanu and her struggles at the Australian Open
The star tennis player made her Grand Slam debut in 2018 but has played four matches at the Australian Open (AO). Her first match at the AO came in 2022, three months after her dream run at the US Open.
That proved to be the start of the fall for her young tennis career. Raducanu failed to cross the second round, as she lost to unseeded Danka Kovinić. She returned in 2023, this time unseeded, and lost to up-and-coming star Coco Gauff in straight sets.
Now, with just one win under her wings in eight months, no one, including Emma Raducanu, knows what to expect from her.
