Why Rinku Singh is fielding in IND vs SA 1st Test despite being not named in the squad?

Rinku Singh is not officially a part of the IND vs SA Test series. However, the Southpaw was fielding on Day 2 of the Test match as a substitute. To note, Rinku was also spotted sitting in the Indian dug-out on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.

According to some reports, Rinku Singh has been kept with the senior while Abhimanyu Easwaran who replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad has been added to India A squad for the tour.

The UP-born batter might not be far away from a Test chance in the near future. The left-hander has a terrific first-class record. In 42 matches, he has scored 3007 runs at an average of 57.82, including 7 centuries and 19 fifties.

The left-handed batter played a key role in the T20I series in South Africa. The left-handed batter smashed a 39-ball 68 in the second T20I. He chipped in with a handy contribution in the final T20I which India won to level the series 1-1.

He also made his ODI debut in the ongoing tour. He hit a match-winning 38 in the series decider as KL Rahul-led side scripted history by winning the ODI series 2-1.
