IPL 2024 Auction: Is Kumar Sangakkara happy with RR picks?

Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champion Mumbai Indians (MI) had a busy day at the IPL 2024 Auction where they bought eight players. However, MI head coach Kumar Sangakkara was a little disappointed as they did not pick their ‘first choice’ players.

In the mini-auction, MI had battled for players like Rovman Powell and Harry Brook but due to less amount on their purse of 17.74 crore, they failed to fetch those players.

Kumar Sangakkara said that Powell and Brook were the ideal players in their team setting.

“Well, I think everyone will want to get bargains, but in small auctions that is not possible. Very happy with the way the auction went. We had clear plans and knew the players we needed. Rovman Powell was a necessity and we did stretch for him, so we are pleased with the day. So, was the case with Shubham Dubey,” he added.

“We would love a lot more money. Powell was the highest-ranked player we had for the spots available. Harry Brook was next. Rovman had full availability and that was the thing we considered,” Sangakkara further said.

Mumbai Indians Players Bought: Gerald Coetzee ( 5 crore), Nuwan Thushara (4.8 crore), Dilshan Madushanka (4.6 crore), Anshul Kamboj (20 lakh), Naman Dhir (20 lakh), Shreyas Gopal (20 lakh), Mohammad Nabi (1.5 crore), Shivalik Sharma (20 Lakh)

MI full squad for IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma, Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, N. Tilak Varma, Tim David, Vishnu Vinod, Arjun Tendulkar, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, Jasprit Bumrah, Kumar Kartikeya, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Jason Behrendorff, Romario Shepherd, Hardik Pandya (c), Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madushanka, Shreyas Gopal, Nuwan Thushara, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Mohammad Nabi, Shivalik Sharma.
