Slowly, but surely, Team England seems to be coming into their element after a poor World Cup 2023, and the ODI series against the West Indies. In the fourth T20I against the same team, England registered a huge 75-run victory to level the five-match series 2-2. After scoring 267, riding on Phil Salt’s 119, England bundled out the opposition for 192, to stay alive in the series.
In the process, a few records also came down on the day. For starters, England’s 267 is the fifth-highest score by any team in T20Is, along with the highest in the West Indies, and also the highest ever against the West Indies.
Phil Salt’s Record-breaking Spree
Opener Phil Salt, who was overlooked during the IPL 2024 Auction, came up with a scintillating hundred, his second in as many matches. This 119 by Salt happens to be the highest individual score by any English player in the T20Is, surpassing Alex Hales’ 116. Not just that, he also became the first from England to score two consecutive T20I hundreds.
If this is not enough, Salt also smashed 10 sixes in his innings, the highest by an English player.

After opting to bowl first, West Indies conceded 267 in 20 overs. Apart from Salt’s carnage, there were excellent contributions from Jos Buttler (55 in 29 balls), and Liam Livingstone (54 in 21 balls). Matthew Forde gave away 54 runs in only three overs, while Motie and Jason Holder were taken for 55 runs each in their four overs.
In reply, West Indies could only score 192, with Andre Russell top-scoring with 51 from 25 balls. There were valuable contributions from Nicholas Poora (39) and Sherfane Rutherford (36), but that was not enough, as West Indies fell short by 75 runs.
