The ISPL, conceptualized by BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar, former Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri, and Mumbai Cricket Association president Amal Kale, introduces a unique tennis ball T-Ten cricket format in India. This innovation brought forth the first ten-ball cricket tournament in the country.

The tournament will feature six teams representing major cities: Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Srinagar. Scheduled for a seven-day run, the ISPL will commence on March 2, 2024, and conclude on March 9, with all 19 matches taking place in Mumbai.

The team ownership lineup includes Akshay Kumar, who acquired the Srinagar team on December 13, and Hrithik Roshan, who took ownership of the Bengaluru team on December 18. Now, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has joined the league by taking ownership of the Mumbai team. This development adds to the star-studded ownership roster of the new ten-over ISPL tournament, bringing tennis ball cricket to the forefront of Indian cricket.
