Arshdeep Singh fifer collapses Proteas batting order:

Arshdeep Singh made a significant impact at the beginning by taking three early including key players Reeza Hendricks and Tony de Zorzi, contributing to South Africa’s loss of four wickets within the initial 10 overs. The situation took a turn for the worse for the hosts when Avesh Khan swiftly secured two consecutive wickets, dismissing Aiden Markram and Wiaan Mulder with the first two balls. This rapid sequence resulted in South Africa losing their top six batsmen in just over 10 overs.

Maintaining his effectiveness, Arshdeep later dismissed Heinrich Klaasen before claiming Phelukwayo as his fifth victim, while Avesh added to the Proteas’ troubles by capturing the wickets of David Miller and Keshav Maharaj. Their stellar performance disrupted the Proteas’ batting order, resulting in South Africa registering their lowest ODI score at home.

While Arshdeep celebrated his maiden 5-wicket haul, Avesh Khan contributed with four crucial wickets. Phelukwayo, with a score of 33, emerged as the top-scorer for South Africa, but the rest of the lineup faltered against the fired-up Indian pace attack. South Africa, having won the toss, chose to bat first in the contest.
