Former Indian head coach and commentator Ravi Shastri has praised Virat Kohli for keeping the Test cricket alive. Shastri is currently in Australia serving as a panelist in the ongoing AUS vs PAK Test series. In a conversation with Fox Sports, Shastri said that Virat Kohli kept Test cricket going & there are very few ambassadors of Test cricket like Virat Kohli in the international arena.
Kohli worships Test cricket: Shastri
Ravi Shastri had a great coach-captain partnership with Virat Kohli. When they were at the helm, the Indian cricket team rose to great heights in Test cricket. Under them, the Indian side also did reasonably well in reaching the knockouts of quite a few ICC events.
Virat worships Test match cricket, as do most of the team, which might surprise the world because of the amount of one-day cricket India plays, then IPL. If you ask anyone in the team, 99 percent of them would say they love Test match cricket. That’s why, what India have done in the last five years – remain as the No. 1 team in the world at the end of every year,” Shastri had said earlier.

Speaking more on Virat Kohli, the right-handed batter is not a part of the ongoing ODI series against South Africa. However, the star batter will take part in the upcoming two-match Test series against the Proteas. Kohli has already arrived in South Africa and will also participate in the practice games before the Test series.
